Successful Networking

What is successful networking?

Networking is about talking to people. Developing relationships. Creating opportunities!

And it is essential to business.

These days there are loads of ways to network – on and offline - so everyone can find a way that sits comfortably with them.

But the bottom line is, whatever business you are in, you will gain tremendous benefit from effective business networking.

The biggest thing to remember is networking should be about developing relationships with PEOPLE not businesses.

People do business with people they like and trust.

Be yourself.

Don’t go for the hard sell.

Whether you are attending a business network event, using social media, participating on a forum, writing a blog or holding a seminar – be yourself.

When people meet you, either they like you or they don’t. If they do, they will get to know you. Trust comes next.

Then, and only then – comes business. (You won’t like everybody and not everybody will like you. It doesn’t matter. Move on. There will be plenty of people you will get on with. Focus on them.)

Done properly, networking can provide massive benefits for your business. It can help you:

  • Create a network of trusted professionals which you can call upon when needed

  • Develop strategic relationships with like-minded people to add to your overall customer proposition

  • Learn valuable lessons from other professionals

  • Find new suppliers that can save you money or become more effective

  • Form friendships with people who may refer business to you

  • Form friendships with people!

  • Increase awareness of you, your products/service and your business to a huge number of people.

  • Ultimately make more sales!

  • Do you really need me to carry on?...
